Pain Is My Constant Companion

Pain is my constant companion
Both in my body and soul
At night when the world is sleeping
I’m awake with my pain all alone
Think of a sky void of stars
Imagine a room without light
Think of a life without vision
The emptiness of a long lonely night
A life with no one to hold me
A place all alone, dark and cold
Imagine a life stripped of beauty
And no one to touch or to hold
I’m in that place without sunshine
Where warm summer nights don’t exist
My life is a long endless winter
Constantly dreary and cold
I long for summer’s warm sunshine
Gentle breezes to soothe my soul
Someone special to love and hold me
When the pain is too much to bear
Pain is my constant companion
And my heart has a permanent tear
